Teaching / Research Focus: Mechanics, fluid and mechanical systems,
and tribology.
Prior to joining the faculty of SUNY-Binghamton, Dr. Sun was affiliated with General Motors Research Laboratories (1969-1988). His specialty areas are mechanics, fluid and mechanical systems, and tribology. He has authored a book and more than 30 technical papers. He was an associate editor of the ASME Journal of Tribology during 1985-1991, and is a professional engineer registered in the State of New York. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Dr. Sun's current research interest includes the dynamical cavitation of liquid films and implementing fluid film lubrication in mechanical devices. His main research interests lie in the area of tribology.
