Teaching / Research Focus: Materials processing, computational materials science, and transport phenomena.

Dr. Murray was formerly at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland where he worked in the area of computational materials science. He has also held a faculty position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Lehigh University and was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories (now Lucent Technologies).

His research interests are in the areas of materials processing, convective heat and mass transfer, and computational methods. He is associated with the Physicochemical Hydrodynamics Laboratory and the Materials Laboratory in the ME Department. Two recent collaborative projects concern transport effects in crystal growth and computational modeling of dendritic solidification.
